At a first glance, you do not see what these pictures are exactly of, then you see the pattern and recognise them as snakes. There are more than one snake in each photo and they fill the frame. The pictures are taken from above so they look flat/2D. They are out of context as there is no background in the pictures and they are not photographed in a way that snakes are usually photographed and the pattern of the snakes scales makes them look abstract.
